Platform extension work at Milngavie railway station has been completed by Network Rail ahead of the timetable changes this weekend.
The £5m project to extend the platforms at Milngavie railway station was announced earlier this year, and should help improve the reliability of services by allowing for the stabling of trains at the station.
Both platforms at the station have been extended from 141 metres to 205 metres along with changes to track and signalling.
In total, over 20,600 hours were worked, and 160 cubic metres of concrete were used in the work.
Kevin McClelland, Network Rail route delivery director for capital delivery, said: “This investment in Milngavie station generates benefits both for the passenger experience and the environment.
“Extending the platforms delivers improvements in the service to passengers by now having space for the ‘stabling’ of trains at the station. This allows more time between arrivals and departures, providing greater resilience and service reliability on the network.
“With the platform work complete, I once again want to thank the local community for their patience while we carried out this important investment in the railway.”

Are there more future plans including the Glasgow South Western Line to be electrified to Stranraer, Dumfries and East Kilbride. And the electrification on the Fife Circle Lines to Dunfermline, Aberdour and Markinch.
New overhead wires means less disruption to services. Great work Network Rail. Could they electrify the Fife Circle Lines from Edinburgh Haymarket to Dunfermline, Markinch and Aberdour and to allow the Class 380 and Class 385 EMU units to work on those routes. Or will it be impossible to electrify it because of it could ruin the landscape of the Forth Bridge if electrification was to happen.
