Govia Thameslink Railway has announced more Amazon lockers are being installed at stations on their network.
Over the summer 84 lockers were installed on the Southern routes and now the Amazon Hub Lockers are being installed on the Thameslink and Great Northern routes.
The first stations to have the lockers installed on the Thameslink routes were Morden South, South Merton and Sutton Common. On The Great Northern route, Hitch and St Neots have had them installed.
The installation means that passengers can collect their Amazon parcels while using their usual station, making online shopping quick and easy.
GTR’s Commercial Director, David Gornall, said: “We’re working hard to bring Amazon Hub Lockers to Thameslink and Great Northern before the end of the year. Demand for online shopping soared as a result of the pandemic and is only set to continue, which is why we’re further supporting our busy customers with the opportunity to pick-up Amazon parcels on-the-go – perfect for last minute Christmas shopping!”
Doug Gurr, Country Manager for Amazon.co.uk, said: “Amazon will go where our customers are and deliver where and when they need us. Rolling out Amazon Hub Lockers with Govia Thameslink Railway is a great opportunity to provide a seamless shopping and delivery experience for our joint customers.”
Customers can select an Amazon locker for pickup during the checkout process and once ready for pickup they can scan a barcode at the locker allowing for contactless pickup.
