West Midlands Railway will continue operating trains – despite month long lockdown

West Midlands Railway has confirmed that it will continue to run trains for those that need them for essential journeys as England enters its second lockdown of 2020.

For four weeks starting from the 5th November 2020, unnecessary travel is being discouraged as part of the measures in order to reduce the spread of the .

West Midlands Railways pledged to continue operating its advertised timetable throughout the restrictions, with a possibility that the coronavirus will impact on the availability of train crew at short notice.

Jonny Wiseman, WMR customer experience director, said: “Throughout the pandemic, we have played our part in the country’s response by keeping train services running for those who need them.

“We would like to reassure our customers that this will continue throughout this period of new restrictions and we will continue running our advertised timetable for those who need to travel.

“Our staff are not immune from Covid-19, and so I would urge passengers to check their journeys before setting out for the station in case of any unavoidable short-notice cancellations.”
