UPDATE: Nottingham Station has now reopened. East Midlands Railway has said: “Nottingham station has re-opened following an earlier evacuation. This means trains can run normally. Services are expected to be delayed or altered whilst we try and get trains running to their advertised times again.”
The British Transport Police has said “The cordon has been lifted and Nottingham station has now reopened. The suspicious package has been assessed and has been deemed safe. Thank you to everyone for their patience during this incident.”
Nottingham station is currently closed, and a cordon is in place after reports of a suspicious package were found, according to the British Transport Police.
This incident is currently affecting CrossCountry, Northern and East Midlands Railway trains, as no trains can enter or leave the station.
East Midlands Railway said: “There is a problem under investigation at Nottingham station, the station has been evacuated and trains cannot run through Nottingham. This is affecting most of our routes.”
London St Pancras – Sheffield, Leicester – Grimsby, Nottingham – Worksop, Norwich – Liverpool, Nottingham- Skegness and Matlock – Newark trains are all affected by this incident.
Ticket acceptance is in place with LNER and CrossCountry between London and Lincoln.
The incident is also affecting Nottingham Trams, with no service between The Old Market Square, NG2 and Queens Walk.
The British Transport Police said “As a precaution Nottingham station has been evacuated and a 200m cordon is currently in place. It follows a report of a suspicious package, which is in the process of being assessed. Further updates to follow.”
Nottingham Station Twitter has posted the following update: “Due to a security alert, the 12:46 and 13:46 departures from Nottingham to London St Pancras have been cancelled.
“The station remains closed whilst police deal with a security alert.”
According to the Nottingham Post, The Bomb Squad have arrived on the scene at 12:50.
