The Mid Norfolk Railway has announced that they are making changes for 2021, with new and refurbished rolling stock set to give the heritage line a new look.
Recently, non-public test trains have operated which has allowed for staff and volunteers to regain operating qualifications. Newly refurbished Mk1 coaches were also taken on their first run out, which are vital to operating COVID compliant services.
BR Class 4 No. 80078 hauled the test trains, which will be on hire to the MNR for the 2021 season and will join some fleet locos and DMUs to provide the planned services.
By 2021, a Mark 1 First Class coach will join the carriage fleet. This coach is currently being refurbished thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
Charlie Robinson, Chairman of the Mid Norfolk Railway Trust Council said, “Seeing this train running is the culmination of so much hard work by our volunteers who restored the coaches and painted the running gear and also Heritage Painting our commercial partner who painted the bodywork. I am sure our passengers next year will be as impressed as we at the railway, by the end result.”
The MNR operating season timetable will be produced in the new year as well as details about Flying Scotsman’s visit in October 2021.
