The Nene Valley Railway (NVR) has announced that a GB Railfreight (GBRf) Class 66 will be visiting the heritage line later on this month.
Taking place on Sunday 27th September, GBRf has advised the railway that the engine visiting has never hauled passenger trains before, with the number of the locomotive to be confirmed closer to the event.
Tickets will be issued for all-day travel with a reserved seat; prices will be announced soon on the NVR’s website.
The first train departs Wansford Station at 10:00 am, with other diesel engines on the preserved railway on display around Wansford Station’s yard. Refreshments are available from Wansford Café but to a limited menu.
The newly completed 5-inch gauge Wansford Miniature Railway will have a Class 08 and Class 14 on display.
Four trade stands will be set up at Wansford Station for the following groups: Railriders, Railwayana Stand, Wansford Miniature Railway and B&E Models.
For more information or to book your seat when tickets become available online, please visit the Nene Valley Railway’s website here.

That’s wonderful. The Class 66 locomotive are very reliable diesel built trains not just for freight movements but also for special charter service.
