Alstom delivers first Citadis trams to Athens tram network in Greece

Alstom has announced that it has delivered the first two Citadis X05 trams for Attiko Metro, the first of the batch of 25 that were ordered in July 2018.

The trams will now undergo testing at the end of September, before a planned introduction to passenger service in February 2021.

25 Citadis X05 trams will run on on Athens’ existing network, and planned extensions, with the final tram set to be delivered by the end of May 2021.

“It is our duty to contribute to a more sustainable and green mobility in the city of Athens. We know how important it is for everyone to have the latest generation trams for improved, eco-friendly and more pleasant urban transport” said Attiko Metro CEO Nikos Kouretas.

Alstom will be responsible for testing, training and warranty services, as well as spare parts for the trams. The Citadis X05 are the first trams sold by Alstom in Greece.

Since introduction in 2000, have covered more than 1 billion km, and have transported 10 billion passengers.
