Rail operator, Northern, is increasing train services between Blackpool North and Manchester Airport to give passengers more flexibility as the country moves out of lockdown.
Service levels have gradually increased during the past few months, and Monday 20th July 2020 will see more trains added between the resort and the airport.
There will also be increases between Preston and Blackpool South, plus one additional train each way in the morning between Preston and Ormskirk.
Chris Jackson, Regional Director at Northern, said: “We know this year has been difficult for our customers, with amended timetables in place since the end of March.
“We have brought in more services were possible during May and June and now, at the end of July, we are able to add more between two of the most popular destinations on our network.
“We are still not at a full timetable though, and, with social distancing still in place, space on our trains is limited. Customers, therefore, need to plan journeys carefully, avoid travelling at peak times where possible and, of course, wear a face covering (unless they are exempt) when on our trains.”
Chris added: “We want to make sure customers who travel with us can do so with the confidence that the Northern network is as safe as possible.
“Those who are returning to the railway can help by making sure they wash their hands regularly, adhere to social distancing, and take any litter with them when they leave our trains.
“Customers should also make themselves fully aware of the updated timetables and plan journeys well in advance – allowing extra time for travel where possible.”

Nothing after 2231 from Manchester towards Bolton, Preston and Blackpool. Disgraceful.
I absolutely agree with you. Indeed.
Is Northern using the Class 195 on the South Flyde Line. As they are rebuilding their franchise and restarted their services when Arriva Group lost the franchise to DfT/Government owned “Open Access” franchise back in March 2020.

Don’t understand why no trains going from Crossgates straight through to Blackpool you have made it bad again for us up North that want to go northern rail disgusting
Why not increase more services such as the Windermere Line, Cumbrian Coast Line, Furness Line and Bentham Line in the Northwest of England. And Durham Coast Line, Northallerton-Eaglescliffe Line and Esk Valley Line in the Northeast of England.
With Northern to order more CAF Class 195 Civity DMUs to add more capacity to the smaller busiest railway lines in the North of England. As well ordering few more Class 331 Civity EMUs for the Newcastle-Chathill/Berwick-Upon-Tweed stopper. If Northern were to order more new rolling stocks. And Class 769s to operate on the Windermere Line.
