Tuesday, 7th July 2020, saw the first engineer trains run on the South Devon Railway since the railway closed in March 2020.
Contractors, Ultim8 Construction, and their tools were taken to the Nursery Pool Bridge along with the Class 09 diesel locomotive to complete repairs.
The repairs have been completed with an outer protective layer of bricks on one of the piers of the bridge, which were damaged earlier in the year by the storms. Work has progressed well and should be completed on time.
There currently is no confirmed date as to when the South Devon Railway will reopen, so it is great to see some normality return with the train running, albeit very limited.
