The Epping Ongar Railway has confirmed that it will resume services from 1st August 2020 between North Weald and Ongar.
Initially, the services will be operated by one train taking passengers between North Weald and Ongar, with an additional excursion to the forest on the return trip from Ongar.
Dean Walton, General Manager, said: “It will be exciting to see passengers back on the Railway. We hope that people will be encouraged to come back, buy a ticket and support our Railway through this difficult time.”
All tickets will need to be booked in advance so that social distancing can be ensured, with tickets for outward and return journeys being booked separately. This allows passengers to take advantage of the numerous footpaths and book a single journey and walk back.
Jeff Mesnard, a key volunteer at the Railway said: “By combining a trip on the Railway with a walk in the countryside or a tour of Ongar Town Centre and lots of places to park cycles at Ongar and North Weald we really hope to help local people have a safe and enjoyable day out and enjoy a railway ramble.”
The Epping Ongar Railway will also continue with a limited number of its dining services but with some changes.
More details of the Epping Ongar Railway’s reopening can be found here on their website.

I also like to Wish the Epping & Ongar Railway (Which I Myself, Still Hope to Visit ‘in-person’ Someday)… Good Luck on their Forthcoming Reopening Day.
I Bet the EOR, It’s Crews and Volunteers Too, Are looking forward to once again run their own trains up and down the route of their own Preserved Railway through the Evocative Essex Countryside.
This is Jolly Good News… The Epping & Ongar Railway are sure going to have A Successful Reopening Day on 1 August of 2020.
Furthermore… This is also Surprisingly the same day some fellow other Heritage Railways such as the North Yorkshire Moors Railway & the Churnet Valley Railway also Reopen…
Not to Mention that 1 August is also, ”Yorkshire Day”.
