The , in Burnley, has confirmed that it is reopening this weekend, Saturday 11th July 2020.

The popular miniature railway at Thompson Park will be running from 12 pm until 4 pm on Saturday 11th July 2020.

Unfortunately, the Burnley & Pendle Miniature Railway Society has said that lollipops will not be available until further notice, and a one-way system will be in place.

Other precautions have been taken, and the full list of these can be found on the Thompson Park Railway by clicking here.

Train tickets cost just £1, so a great time to get out and enjoy the fresh air.

Michael Bailey, Thompson Park Railway Secretary, told RailAdvent “After over three months of lockdown and a lot of work going on behind the scenes at 12 noon on Saturday 11th July we will reopen to the public. Everything is ready with all locomotives checked and ready to run. All eight coaches with a fresh coat of paint and new nameplates. Over 100 sleepers have been replaced, and the bridge has been repainted. We just need some nice weather.”
