Beamish Museum has announced that they have launched an appeal to help with the issues surrounding Coronavirus.
The museum is a charity that relies on visitors for 95% of its income, this includes ticket sales, catering and retail purchases.
Beamish is set to reopen on 23rd July, however, with no visitors since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this has had a major effect.
The museum, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, is appealing for donations – these can be made by clicking here to visit their website.
Rhiannon Hiles, Beamish’s Deputy Director, said: “The coronavirus pandemic has had a huge impact on the museum and we hope that people can help by making a donation – we’re incredibly grateful for any support people can give.
“As a charity, 95 per cent of our income is from visitors. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve had no visitors since March, through some of what would usually be our busiest months of the year, which has had a major impact.
“We’re extremely proud to have been a part of our region for the past 50 years and we are working hard on our plans to welcome visitors once again. We know these are difficult times for everyone but whatever people can do to help is hugely appreciated, it really does mean such a lot to us.”

Now Beamish (That Historic North-Easterly Open-Air Museum) are the latest to launch an Urgent Appeal… To Fight Back/Combat Covid-19.
I am sorry for and to also hear that Brilliant Beamish are (as with most other fellow British Transportation ttractions) goign through during this infamously dreary period….
I do hope Beamish successfully succeed in raising even more as part of this urgent appeal of theirs…
This North-Easterly Open-Air Museum… is also An ‘Eagerly-Must-Visit’ Transportation Destination… Especially As I still hope to hopefully travel up to and visit this Brilliantly Well-Preserved/Best-Kept Museum ‘in-person’ someday.
A friend of mine (or 2) has been there… So I most definitely hope to go up there and visit Beamish ‘in-person’ someday.
