The Rhaetian Railway(RhB) has confirmed that it is ordering from Stadler an additional 20 Capricorn trains, worth in the region of 172.9 million Swiss Francs (approx £144 million).
The option follows the original order of 36 trains which was made in 2016.
The four-car trains operate on the narrow-gauge network of the RhB in the Swiss Canton of Grisons.
The view of the driver’s cab is broadcasted to the passenger area to add to the experience.
The “Capricorns” are equipped with automatic coupling to ensure the smooth operation of the multiple units.
Ansgar Brockmeyer, Head of Sales at Stadler, said: “The Rhaetian Railways and Stadler have been working together over decades already. We’re proud that they have decided to modernize their fleet with our robust and high-quality trains and that we can now deliver a total of 56 ‘Capricorns’ to the Grisons.”
