The 7027 Thornbury Castle Facebook page has posted an update on the restoration of Great Western Railway 4073 ‘Castle’ Class No.7027 “Thornbury Castle”, following their return after a pause due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

The team working on 7027 at the ‘s (GCR) Loughborough Motive Power Depot (MPD) have produced some missing parts for the whistle.

These parts being the shield plate (covering the back and sides of both whistle), it’s supporting bracket and both the elbow joints which the whistles connect to.

The team have been busy making new parts needed for 7027 ever since the engine arrived at GCR in Late January / Early February 2020, but many components are still needed to be made or purchased before we can see “Thornbury Castle” in steam.

If you own any parts you think are needed to restore 7027, please contact the team through their Facebook page.
