Avanti West Coast has begun trialling a long-lasting sanitising treatment on their trains. The disinfectant kills 99.99% of viruses and bacteria on surfaces.
Passengers numbers are expected to increase as lockdown measures are eased and Avanti West Coast are testing Zoono Z-71 on the Super Voyager and Pendolino carriages.
The disinfectant is sprayed using a misting machine, it uses no alcohol and is to be reapplied on a monthly basis.
In addition to the sanitiser being used on the trains, other cleaning routines are already undertaken on high touch points, tables, handles and door buttons.
Gus Dunster, Executive Director of Operations at Avanti West Coast, said: “Keeping our customers and people safe is always our highest priority. This sanitiser is another addition to help safeguard their journeys.
“Our customers should try to travel at quieter times to make social distancing easier, and there’s advice around this on our website.
“It’s also important that customers follow the latest government guidance and wear a face covering on public transport, as well as taking other steps such as buying tickets through the app.”

Same with what other train operators are doing or trying to make trains lot more safer by sanitising the carriages for the passengers to use. With strict guidelines on social distancing on trains and at railway stations.
