Despite the disruption caused by Coronavirus, GB Railfreight has announced a number of investments to its properties in Cambridgeshire.
GBRf is continuing to invest in its site in Peterborough, where state-of-the-art simulators are found. This announcement shows the operators commitment to investing in the UK economy and follows on from upgrades to GBRf’s March Up Yard in 2019.
Earlier in 2020, GBRf confirmed that a £3m investment would be made in building a new control room, three classrooms as well as a board room and staff welfare facilities.
GB Railfreight is additionally working with Balfour Beatty and Network Rail to create new intermodal sidings.
Meanwhile, at March Up Yard, GBRf has begun to see the benefits of its investment. Operations now include wagon maintenance and a stabling depot. The development has improved all of Sibelco rail services, which sees trains run out Middletown Towers to Goole, Monk Bretton and Barnby Dunn.

These pictures of the freight sidings at March do need some improvement. Very messy siding in March. Hope that GB Railfreight does spend their money making the siding lot more better.
