Avanti West Coast unveiled its Pendolino trains with face coverings to remind passengers of the new rules that come into effect today.

From today, Monday 15th June 2020, it will be mandatory for nearly all passengers to wear a face-covering on public transport in England to prevent the spread of .

In Wales and Scotland, where also run trains, it will be strongly recommended to wear a face covering, though it is now mandatory.

To reinforce the face-covering message, Avanti West Coast has vinyl wrapped two Pendolinos with a yellow face covering, along with the message ‘Safe Travels. Wear a face covering.’

Some passengers may not be able to wear a face covering, such as children under 11 or those with breathing difficulties.

To further protect against COVID-19, Avanti West Coast is currently trialling a surface sanitiser onboard its Pendolino and Voyager fleet of trains. The disinfectant, known as Zoono Z-71, is sprayed inside carriages and only needs reapplication every 28 days.

  1. I travelled from birmigham to London with a face mask yes it was hard to breath so I took my scarf out and wrapped it round my face while I was drinking coffee their on rain team came round and seprated passengers who where sat together and we could only sit by the window to give room to fellow passengers who where takeing their seats . My only problem was the underground where some people were not wearing masks

  2. i think itvgreat what there doing and still providing service for public. im due to go on auguest and i have my face mask also my friends to. not sure if first class is on or off. so will wait near time to book tickets. thank u to all staff for there on goin service

  3. Despite the negative comments on social media about how it looks. I think Avanti West Coast and Great Western Railway have done a wonderful job on adding the mask branding onto their existing rolling stocks to show support during the Coronavirus crisis.

I like what they have done and hopefully other train operators should do the same thing to show support. 💙💙
