London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has released a video showing the view their drivers see while working trains along the East Coast Mainline.

Following requests for further videos showing the routes the LNER operates passenger trains on, they have recently published a video which allows you to view a trip from Edinburgh Station to London King’s Cross Station from the comfort of your own home!

The East Coast Mainline is one of the UK’s main routes by rail, covering 393 miles between both capitals in under five hours.

Key stations along the LNER route include Peterborough, Doncaster, York, Darlington, Durham and Newcastle, with each of these individual stations seeing millions of passengers commuting to work, travelling to see family and friends etc.

Routes which you can view on LNER’s YouTube include:

  1. London King’s Cross to Edinburgh
  2. London King’s Cross to Leeds
  3. Leeds to Harrogate
  4. Edinburgh to Newcastle
  5. Further journeys are planned to be uploaded soon

  1. Even at the slowest speed setting not really watchable.
Such a missed opportunity LNER, not what I would expect from such a good railway company, and so easy to put right.

  2. What’s the point of this unwatchable trash? Why not run a more sensible speed to make an enjoyable experience possibly involving various clips.

  3. The LINER VIDEO to KX runs a bit too fast to enjoy the journey, scenery and railway infrastructure. Can it run allot slower please. Not in real time but at half speed??

  4. LNER should introduce more new services including to Harrogate, Scarborough, Sunderland, Middlesborough, Stockton, Hartlepool, Redcar, Perth, Stirling, Skipton and Grimsby if they are planning to expand more services on the East Coast Main Line with their Azuma Class 800 and Class 801 IETs. As the Class 800 are Bi-mode and they can go anywhere.

  5. The cab ride videos are good to watch, the only criticism is they’re at elevated speeds, these kinds of videos are more enjoyable at real time with captions showing stations, speed limits and major junctions, if LNER were to post those as well they’d have very happy viewers.
