A member of staff has raised over £2000 for NHS charities after walking 150,000 steps in a day.

Performance Delivery Manager, Dan Damarell, was inspired by Captain Tom Moore’s fundraising efforts. He set out on Tom’s birthday to try and achieve his target, walking in and around Liverpool.

Dan completed 25,000 steps before 7 am. Unfortunately, his target soon became more ambitious than he first realised.

Dan came short of his target by the end of the day, walking a huge 112,000 steps in the day, with 43,000 of them being on crutches.

Dan Commented: “I saw a video on social media of someone in America doing 100,000 steps in a day and thought why not take it one further by attempting 150,000. I mentioned it to one of my best mates, Tom, and he was on board straight away. It is a great opportunity to stay challenged during the current lockdown, as well as fundraising for the heroes keeping our country going at the moment; the NHS staff and volunteers.”

If you would like to donate to Dan’s fundraiser, you can do so through his JustGiving page here.

Dan added: “I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated or supported me in my 150,000 step challenge. It kept going until the end! In hindsight, I’m not even sure 150,000 steps in one day is possible, but I gave it a good go! The most important thing is the amount of money that has been raised for the NHS COVID-19 appeal.”
