Findhorn Viaduct lights up blue to salute NHS key workers

Findhorn Viaduct, near Inverness, has been lit up blue to show support with key workers during the Coronavirus crisis.

The nine-span viaduct, which crosses the River Findhorn, joined other structures and stations across the country to salute the key workers in the battle against the .

The 405-metre-long structure was designed by railway engineer John Fowler who also designed the Forth Rail Bridge.

The illumination coincided with the round of applause at 8 pm on Thursday to thank NHS staff for their work.

 

The lighting of Findhorn viaduct was completed by the Stage Group, following the social distancing messages from government.

Findhorn viaduct was lit-up blue from 8 pm until 11 pm on Thursday 30 April.

What did the officials say?

Alex Hynes, Managing Director at ‘s Railway, said:

“Findhorn viaduct has recently been refurbished and offered a fantastic back-drop as we light-up blue as a symbol of public support for the vital and incredible work of NHS staff who are tackling the coronavirus.

“We are grateful to all key workers across the country, including those in our railway family, who are playing a massive role in supporting the country at this time. Day by day, the stories of bravery and dedication shown by care workers, staff in the NHS and everyone else who is working to keep our people safe, and give comfort and support where it is needed, is truly humbling.”
