Railway upgrade work on the and Walton-on-the-Naze lines has been completed during the May Bank Holiday to improve the reliability for users.

Engineers replaced hundreds of components on the overhead wires on the Clacton-on-Sea branch line in order to reduce delays.

Track maintenance was also completed between Thorpe-le-Soken and Clacton-on-Sea. New rails were also installed at Weeley.

Ellie Burrows, Network Rail’s route director for Anglia, said:

“This work is vital to keep our network running safely and smoothly while reducing the risk of delays and cancellations for those who need to travel.

The benefits of this work will remain for years to come, ready for when we welcome back more passengers in the future.”

Passengers are continuously reminded only to use train services if their journey is essential.

  1. Is it just the Sunshine Line that goes from Colchester to Clacton-on-Sea or is it both Clacton-on-Sea and the single line branch line that goes from Thorpe-le-Soken to Walton-on-the-Naze that needs some upgrade.

Frinton-on-Sea used to have 2 platforms before one platform was closed off where there is a footbridge that is not used for the public and is completely locked. And did Walton-on-the-Naze had 2 platforms before it was downgraded to 1 platform. And Kirby Cross has 2 platforms.

  2. Is there plans to build a new railway station to the north of Clacton-on-Sea that will be located near to Clacton Outlet Village (formerly Clacton Common Factory Village). Just Braintree Outlet Village (formerly Freeeport Braintree) that does have its very own railway station which only has 1 platform. And the new railway station to be named as Clacton North and to have 2 platforms.
