Train manufacturer, , has delivered the 300th Coradia Polyvalent train for Régiolis in the Occitanie region of on Thursday 7th May 2020.

After six years in operation, the fleet of Coradia Polyvalent trains has travelled more than 107 million kilometres (approx 66.4m miles).

“This 300th train is an important milestone for the Reichshoffen site. It symbolises Alstom’s ability to meet the different expectations of the regions, from the same platform, thus combining industrial excellence with a tailored response to the legitimate expectations and requirements of each public transport authority,” said Jean-Baptiste Eyméoud, CEO of Alstom in France.

The Coradia Polyvalent trains can be adapted to the needs of the operator as well as different types of operations, including suburban, regional and intercity.

The trains can travel at up to 160 km/h (approx 99mph) and are available in three lengths, 56, 72 to 110 metres.

Operating in multi, the trains can couple up as four trains and makes it easy to transport up to 1,000 passengers on one service.

In response to the hydrogen plan by the French Minister, Alstom is now looking to incorporate a dual-mode hydrogen version of the Coradia Polyvalent range.

The first Coradia Polyvalent entered service in April 2014, and to date, 387 trains have been ordered as part of the contract.

  1. Could Alstom manufacture the newer Coradia stocks for the UK such as replacing the Class 313 on the West Coastway and East Coastway services. And Class 455 on Southern’s South London suburban routes. With the new Coradia trains that would be DC 750v 3rd Rail only. And new AC 25kv only & Dual Voltage Coradia trains for other rail operators. And possibly Bi/Tri-Mode Coradia trains.
