The Volk’s Electric Railway Association (VERA) in Brighton have unfortunately had to cancel their 25th Anniversary Events due to take place throughout the 2020 running seasons.

On Saturday 16th of September 1995, the Volk’s Electric Railway Association was formed, dedicated to maintaining and promoting the old’s electric-powered railway still in operation, with parts of the line dating back to 1883.

The Association’s members carry out a variety of tasks, from maintenance on tracks and associated infrastructure to running the booking office. In 2014, a Heritage Lottery Grant of £1.6 million was awarded to the railway, allowing them to complete a number of major projects, such as additional facilities at Aquarium Station and restoring three passenger cars.

2020 will see the VERA turning 25 years old, a major milestone. To celebrate, many events had been organised to take place throughout the 2020 running season.

Sadly, the lockdown put in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19 means the taking the difficult decision to cancel all 25th Anniversary Events due to take place in 2020. These events are now planned to take place next year; further details will be confirmed at a later date.
