The North Yorkshire Moors Railway has announced that it has expanded its online shop to include a virtual store.
The virtual store includes being able to purchase a virtual journey along the heritage line, a tour of a steam locomotive’s footplate and even a cup of tea or bacon sandwich!
The virtual purchases are all in aid of the ongoing crisis appeal, which was launched to keep the heritage railway open after the coronavirus outbreak.
After making their purchase, customers will be taken to a unique page where they will receive a link to a video experience.
100% of donations go directly to the Crisis Appeal.

What did the officials say?
Chris Price, General Manager at NYMR, comments:
“Every item in our virtual store represents a similar product or service which supports the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. I can’t stress how much each and every gift purchased will massively help support the railway, and all donations made will make a really big difference to us here on the ground.
“These are undoubtedly really difficult times, and we’re asking for a fighting chance to keep going. As the situation currently stands, monetary aid hasn’t been offered to charities and with the potential for us to lose up to £1 million over the upcoming weeks, every penny people can spare will be gratefully received.
“Besides, this is probably the only bacon butty you can buy that won’t add on the calories!”
