South Western Railway has announced that they have taken over the management of , Dean, and railway stations.

The train operator has taken over the stations from sister company, Great Western Railway.

will now be responsible for the operation and facilities at these stations. Great Western Railway staff at Romsey will transfer over to the South Western Railway.

Customer Help Points at the three stations will now be answered by SWR staff at the Control Centre in Basingstoke.

For an interim period, Great Western Railway will manage the Customer Information System and retail services – this will not impact the day to day operation of these stations.

Romsey station car park will now also be managed by SWR through third party supplier APCOA; this means that Great Western Railway parking tickets will no longer be valid at this station.

Both SWR and GWR services through these stations will be unaffected by the change in station management.

What did the officials say?

Mark Hopwood, Managing Director at South Western Railway, said:

“We are delighted to welcome these three stations into our operation. This addition means we now manage a total of 187 stations across our region.

“We look forward to working with local stakeholders as we start a new chapter for these three stations.”

  1. Geographically odd that these stations were GWR in the first place. Personally not keen on APCOA managing the parking hive-off though.

  2. Romsey could do with a revamp or refurbishment as South Western Railway have taken over the 3 stations that were managed by Great Western Railway.
