Nexus has shared a video of depot workers at the Tyne & Wear Metro who have paid a touching tribute to the NHS staff during Clap for our Carers.
Maintenance teams at Metro’s Gosforth Depot in Newcastle lined up in front of the train fleet for the 8 pm round of applause, with trains sounding their horns too!
Frontline staff across the Metro network also joined the nation in the weekly ‘Clap for our Carers’ to show their appreciation for the NHS amid the coronavirus pandemic.
It was the fourth time the country has come together to show their gratitude for the NHS.
What did the officials say?
Customer Services Director, Huw Lewis, said:
“It’s amazing to see so many of our frontline staff joining the nation in clap for carers.
“It’s our way of showing our appreciation for the heroic work of health care professionals in the NHS, and other key workers too, at this time of national crisis as we face this public health emergency.”
The organisers of the campaign – which started online – say they decided to stage it because
“during these unprecedented times they (NHS staff) need to know we are grateful”.
