The Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway has announced that they have received over £8,000 in donations following the launch of their Coronavirus Crisis Appeal and video message, which can be watched below:
Passing £8,000 in donations as of Tuesday the 21th of April, which the railway is very grateful for, more donations will further increase the railway’s chance of survival.
The 2020 season would have seen a number of exciting events, such as:
- Many new and improved special events for everyone to enjoy
- Completion of the overhaul on Hunslet No.2705 “Beatrice” and Class 31 No.D5600
- Three carriages entering to traffic, including LNWR Director’s Saloon and specially adapted carriage for mobility-impaired visitors
- Maintenance and construction work to continue at both Embsay and Bolton Station
- Employing more staff to help improve the railway, including a chef providing meals

Well There’s A Surprise.
I’m so pleased to learn about this Excellent (and Well-Restored) Yorkshire Heritage Railway on how well it’s so far been doing on it’s Appeal (whom so far successful) to keep the whole of the forever preserved E&BASR Alive.
I always knew the E&BASR (which I Myself have visited and rode aboard up and down the well-preserved line ‘in-person’ a couple of times) would find more than a way (or 2) to combat/fight back this dreary virus.
Let’s Hope the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway continuously keeps it up, I even wish them Good Luck at doing so, let alone succeed in resuming on their current projects, including the hopeful potential of extending their own restored line down to (and across both canal and nearby Airedale line) into Skipton someday (I Truly Hope).
Furthermore, I still hope the also hopefully forever-preserved Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (back down the Aire Valley) are also doing well in it’s own right too.
(I wonder how the KWVR are doing so far)
My heart (along with my full support) still goes out to the E&BASR (especially those in-between) whom are still tackling this dreary time and so far successfully on their already developing appeal all-round.
