The Lake Railway has announced that they have chosen to close the railway until at least Friday 10th April 2020.

This decision comes after new guidance from the government which said for people to avoid unnecessary travel and social contact.

This is, of course, in addition to the fact that passengers sit in narrow gauge carriages, all in close confinement.

What did they say?

The said:

The health and safety of our customers, staff and volunteers are paramount to us, and in light of the advice given by the UK Government on Monday 16th March, asking the public to avoid unnecessary travel and to minimise social contact we have taken the difficult decision to close the railway until at least Good Friday 10th April.

We will continue to monitor the situation based on current advice from government and health authorities – and will issue an update if the current situation changes
