Pannier No. 1638 visits thanks to the Kent and East Sussex Railway.
1638 will double head a number of full-line services with bigger sister No. 7714.
A brief history of 1638
1638 is one of the 70-strong class of 16XX locomotives, they were designed by GWR, but were built by BR Western Region. They were built between 1949 and 1955 and had a short working life. They were withdrawn from 1959, and all were withdrawn by 1966.
1638 is the only member of the class to survive being scrapped. It is preserved on the Kent and East Sussex Railway, with its last overhaul being completed in 2016.
