Here is your chance to drive a steam locomotive at the East Anglian Railway Museum

GWR Small Prairie 5526 set for Battlefield Line visit

Steam locomotive GWR Small Prairie, No. 5526, has been confirmed to be visiting the for their steam gala in March.

The steam gala will be taking place at the museum on the 14th and 15th March 2020.

The gala will see all operational locomotives Bagnell 0-4-0 ‘Jubilee’, Andrew Barclay No. 11 and RSH 0-6-0 No. 54 run an intensive timetable alongside 5526, and will include BR Mark 1s, freight stock and GER vintage coaches.

On Saturday 14th March trains will continue from 1700 – 2100 with 5526 offering the unique experience of steam travel at night.

Prebook Fish and Chips will be available from 1900, and on Sunday there will also be pre-bookable glorious Sunday Roast Dinners.

Additionally, the East Anglia Railway Museum is now offering people the chance to drive and fire this locomotive on a freight train during one of their popular Steam Railway Experience Days.

Prices for the experience days are £225 for a full day on the 8th March 2020, and £150 for a half day on the 13th and 17th March 2020,
