Nexus has announced that starting yesterday, two of the car parks on the Tyne & Wear Metro will be reserved or NHS staff.

The car parks at Four Lane Ends and Regent Centre will free to use exclusively for NHS staff.

The move will help the staff who work for NHS Newcastle Hospital Trust and will free up spaces for staff within reach of Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital by Metro and bus.

Alternative parking is available at Northumberland Park, Kingston Park and Callerton Parkway Metro stations for other passengers.

What Did The Officials Say?

Huw Lewis, Director of Customer Services at Nexus, said:

“We’re doing all we can to support essential workers getting around the region at this difficult time.

“The NHS is under immense pressure, and reserving these car parks for hospital trust staff only makes their day a little bit easier.”
