As new government guidance sets in, which says travel if only necessary, and avoid social contact, many railways are cancelling events, and worse, closing.
With so many railways around the country, we thought it would be useful to have one page with all the cancellations and postponements that are taking place.
Covid-19 is a fast-moving pandemic, with information changing all the time. Please check with the relevant railways to see where you stand if you have pre-booked tickets.
If you believe we may have missed one, then please get in touch.

Steam Dreams have postponed the Winchester return this Sunday, and also the Settle & Carlisle trip on the 18th April.
I know this as I was booked on both, and received email confirmation yesterday.
Wensleydale Railway is closed until further notice
A few more railways in the South West:
West Somerset Railway has postpone services until further notice and cancelled the Spring Steam Gala.
South Devon Railway suspend ALL train services with immediate effect from 17th March until Saturday 16th May.
Dartmouth Steam Railway Thursday 19th March will be our last operational day until further notice.
Plym Valley Railway closed the railway until further notice.
Somerset & Dorset Railway – at Midsomer Norton cancel all events and close the S&D to the public until further notice.
Is ribble steam gala still going ahead
West Somerset Railway has cancelled their Steam Gala and not running this weekend
York Model Railway Exhibition cancelled too.
No mention about nymr
As a volunteer on the GWSR, we have been told that not just next weekend’s services have been cancelled but all running in the short term.
Those heritage lines that are running are now going against government advice and are not doing the heritage railway movement any favours.
Which Government?
Any of the above still running a normal timetable need to stop now.
Better for a short closure now than being shut down permanently.
Why may I ask?
