What did the officials say?
Louise Cheeseman managing director for Hull Trains said:
“Up until now the spread of COVID-19 has not impacted our timetable but now, more than ever, rail is playing a vital role in getting essential staff to hospitals, police stations and all other vital public services,”
“Reducing the number of journeys provides greater reliability and resilience in the network timetable and the Government’s advice to stop non-essential travel and limit social contact has also led to much fewer people using our services.
“We are honoring refunds for cancelled trains. Customers can have a full refund, rebook on an alternative train or travel on another Hull Trains service running the same day, if the ticket is dated for that day of travel.
“Due to the unexpected nature of these changes, there will be no reciprocal ticket acceptance arrangements with other train companies. Full details of our refund policy can be found on our website.
“I want to reassure people who do need to travel that we have an enhanced cleaning regime on all our trains and our people are following rigorous hand hygiene and sanitisation protocols.
“In line with Government advice to limit close contact with passengers we have suspended catering facilities, which we feel is sensible under the circumstances.
“We will continue to monitor the situation daily alongside our industry partners and will follow advice from the Government to keep our customers and our people safe. Please do check on our website www.hulltrains.co.uk and our twitter feed @Hull_Trains before travelling and for information on refunds.”
