Clayton Equipment Ltd has announced that it has agreed on a contract with Sellafield Ltd to supply two Hybrid+ CBD80 locomotives.
The Clayton Equipment CBD80 locomotive is an 80-tonne Bo-Bo locomotive. The batteries for the locomotive charge onboard and the costs and emissions are reduced significantly by the Hybrid+ technology.
Battery charging is undertaken from a 3-phase supply, providing 100% emission-free running, or low emission running using the EU Stage V Diesel engine.
The two locomotives will enable Sellafield Ltd to see the benefits of reduced operational costs. Additionally, investment in greener technology will reduce emissions, noise levels and reliability.
What did the officials say?
Clive Hannaford, Managing Director at Clayton Equipment, said:
“We are very privileged to supply Sellafield Ltd with sustainable, low emission, environmentally compliant equipment which meets their commitment to invest in technology and provide cost savings with long term durability”.
