The 7027 “Thornbury Castle” Facebook Page has posted a list of components they are currently looking for, which are needed to restore Great Western Railway (GWR) 4073 ‘Castle’ Class No.7027 “Thornbury Castle” at the Great Central Railway.
Components
The current list of parts are:
- GWR Boiler Pressure Gauge (Measuring up to 320psi)
- GWR Steam Heat Pressure Gauge
- GWR Vacuum Duplex Gauge
- Oil – no Oil Gauge for the Cylinder Lubrication
- Safety Valve Bonnet.

Restoration Update
The team have been busy restoring tender and bogie components for 7027. The bogie bolsters and centre connecting join between bogie and locomotive frame, and half the tender’s axleboxes, have been cleaned and painted.
