ScotRail has announced that its staff have raised more than £160,000 for charity since the start of the Abellio franchise in 2015.
Train operator employees have taken part in several fundraising events in their spare time to raise money for charities, including MND Scotland, ScotRail‘s charity partner.
The fundraising has seen staff walk over hot coal, jump out of planes, run marathons, and climb mountains.
The charities that have benefitted from the donations include Macmillan Cancer Support, Action for Children, British Heart Foundation, Alzheimer Scotland, the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, and many more.
The fundraising total currently stands at £160,760.88, which includes nearly £40,000 in funding from ScotRail’s Employee Charitable Giving Fund.
What did the officials say?
Sophie Nightingale, ScotRail Community Investment Manager, said:
“It’s fantastic to see that our staff have raised more than £160,000 for various charities since the start of the franchise, and all during their free time.
“ScotRail’s Employee Charitable Giving Fund matched funding has helped to top up the fundraising totals – it’s is our way of saying thank you to our people, and to show our support for their selflessness.”
