The Canadian Pacific Project has released an update on the restoration on their Bulleid Open-Third coach No.1456 at the Mid Hants Railway (The Watercress Line).
Open-Third No.1456
Bogies
Due to the nature of the design of the Bulleid bogies used on 1456, the team have borrowed a set of lifting jacks to allow them to use packers to alter the ride height of the coach.
This work is coming along nicely and should be completed soon.
Exterior
Work on the outside of the coach is almost complete, with the roof now painted and the majority of the fixings (door handles, grab handles, etc.) reattached to the coach.
Interior
Like the outside, the inside is coming close to being finished too. All the doors have been fitted, with the toilet door just needing a sand down and varnishing. A modification made to the coach has been fitting speakers to allow onboard announcements to be made.
The communication cord has been attached. Components for the luggage racks are currently being chromed. One fully chromed rack bracket has been completed which the team is delighted with.
