The Nene Valley Railway has announced that they will be holding a very special Pannier tank gala in March.
The last Pannier tank locomotive left Swindon Works 70 years ago, so the Nene Valley Railway will be celebrating this with a special gala over the 7th and 8th March 2020.
GWR Pannier No 6779 was the last Pannier to be built and leave Swindon works; subsequently, these were replaced by Class 14 diesel locomotives, also built at Swindon Works.
Thanks to the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, you will be able to ride behind Pannier tank No. 4612 at the gala. A second Pannier locomotive will be announced in due course.
One of these Panniers will be renumbered to No. 6779 with full renumbering and shed plate.
The two Panniers will join Class 14s No. 9520 and 9529 at the gala and will haul a special quadruple-header.
