The Great Central Railway has announced that LNER ‘K1’ steam locomotive 62005 will be operating trains this weekend.
The K1 locomotive was originally visiting the Great Central Railway for its Winter Steam Gala, which was held a few weeks ago.
62005 visits the Great Central Railway thanks to the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group.
Regular fares apply for the weekend of the 15th/16th February 2020 and provides an excellent opportunity to have a ride behind this locomotive before it heads home.
The K1 joins a second steam locomotive (To be confirmed) and the diesel railcar (possibly NER Electric Railcar) to operate the timetable, which is available here.
What do you think of this? Let us know in the comments below!
Steam locomotive 62005 is usually found in the Scottish Highlands, helping to haul The Jacobite train services for West Coast Railways along with Riley Black 5s. So this is an excellent opportunity to have a ride behind this locomotive while it is south of the border!

GCR well worth a visit, value for money, plenty on show for steam and diesel enthusiasts.
62005 certainly drew the crowds at winter gala. Take opportunity to see this engine running from Loughborough to Leicester
