Photos, kindly supplied to us by Adrian Rodsett, have revealed that Storm Ciara flooding has torn through steam locomotive shed, on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.

Storm Ciara hit the UK today, bringing extensive amounts of rain and high wind, causing disruption across the country – however, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway at Haworth looks to have been hit the worst.

The extent of the damage is not yet known. However, the photos clearly show where the flood water got to on the railway, with possible damage to the locomotives based at the depot.

Haworth MPD is home to several Keighley & Worth Valley Railway residents, including 41241, 45212, 45596 ‘Bahamas’, 85, 5820 ‘Big Jim’ and 43924. It is also home to some of the railway’s diesel locomotives, including 37075 and the diesel railbus.

This is a saddening sight to see, and one that nobody would have expected.

Away from the locomotives, the track could well have been damaged by debris in the floodwater, and ballast could have also been washed away.

We will not know what the extent of the damage is until the floodwater subsides; however, if there is damage, it will cost the KWVR a lot of money.

Can you help? The KWVR take any amount of donations via the website by clicking here. Since the Bahamas Locomotive Society owns Bahamas, you can donate to the upkeep of the locomotive by clicking here.
