Northern has announced that almost 250,000 train tickets have been bought by customers in their January sale, with tickets available from just 10p.
Northern says all the 10p tickets were claimed within 72 hours of the sale opening last week, giving passengers a chance to travel on the network for a bargain price.
Northern now has more than 50 of its new trains running on the network.
The £500m investment brings trains with free WiFi, air conditioning, at-seat charging and carriages which are more spacious and comfortable.
What did the officials say?
Mark Powles, Commercial Director at Northern, said:
“After Christmas and New Year we wanted to give our customers a little lift to welcome the 2020s and brought back our popular 10p tickets.
“Tens of thousands of tickets were available on our most popular routes and, with children’s tickets costing just 5p, there is no better time to explore the north of England – at a fraction of the usual cost.”
Mark added:
“The cut-price tickets were available when booked in advance through the Northern website or app. Our website had more than one million visits during the sale and we’re delighted that so many people will be able to benefit from great value travel over the next couple of months.”

Northern are a disgrace by doing that. Completely ripoff that passengers using Northern services have been ripped off. Same with other train operators who passengers are being ripped off and charged for paying lots of money to travel on the trains.
