Hull Trains are freezing fares in January 2020, as they are an open-access rail operator and are exempt from the nationally-regulated ticket price increase.
This ticket price increase comes into force annually, saving passengers 2.7% on train fares!
Hull Trains operate 92 direct services a week between Hull and London Kings Cross, using new bi-mode Class 802, costing £60 million.
The Paragon fleet will replace the Class 180s in early 2020.
What did the officials say?
Louise Cheeseman, managing director for Hull Trains said:
“As the roll out of our Paragon trains continue, we have frozen our January 2020 ticket prices as a thank you to everyone who continues to support us on this journey.”
“Our customers will see no change in the price of walk-up tickets purchased on the same day of travel and available advance tickets will remain at current prices.”
“We welcome more than ten thousand people on our trains every week. The majority of our passengers are from Hull, but many also join us on their journey up and down the country on the East Coast Main Line. We want people to have trust in our services and enjoy a journey on our new Paragon trains.”
“2020 is our 20th anniversary year and is a major milestone in the history of the business, this prize freeze is another way to celebrate the introduction of these hi-tech trains into service. The Paragon trains will be one of the most hi-tech fleets on the rail network, offering an extra 5,500 seats a week, greater comfort and improved connectivity including USB plugs. They’re also much better for the environment. People who want to have a virtual tour of our new trains can do so thanks to our immersive video on our website.”

East Midlands Railway will be inheriting the 4 Class 180 Adelante DMUs from Hull Trains. The Class 802 Paragon are very nice and well built trains.
