Network Rail has revealed plans to replace a footpath bridge that connects Elmsley Road and Bridge Road in Mossley Hill, in Liverpool.
The footbridge will be closed from 17 February – 10 May to allow Network Rail engineers to complete the major upgrade.
Residents are invited to a drop-in event at Wigwam coffee shop on Tuesday 21st January 2020 between 4pm and 7pm to find out more about the work.
The address is: Wigwam Coffee Shop 70 Rose Lane, Liverpool, L18 8AG.
The work includes removing the stairs and over-bridge in sections and installing new foundations in stages.
The new footbridge is planned to be lifted in by crane over Easter weekend.
What did the officials say?
Nathaly Oshodin, scheme project manager at Network Rail, said:
“We’re investing almost £1m to replace Mossley Hill railway footbridge as part of the Great North Rail Project to make sure it remains safe and reliable for the local community for years to come.
“We worked with the local council to consult with residents on our future plans for the footbridge in April last year. I look forward to meeting with many of them next week to discuss the refurbishment in more detail.”
