The has announced that they are implementing a temporary timetable for this weekend, 4th and 5th January 2020.

This new timetable follows on from a fire on Pimhold Road in Bury on Thursday.

Part of the line runs close to the fire. The track has not been damaged by the fire.

However, the railway has taken the decision to close the Bury – Heywood section of the East Lancashire Railway to help the Greater Manchester Fire Rescue Service’s efforts.

Steam and diesel trains will still run between Bury and Rawtenstall – perhaps your chance for your first steam adventure of 2020!

The timetable can be viewed here.

The diesel diagram is expected to be covered by 33109 Captain Bill Smith RNR, and the steam diagram covered by A Class 52322 – both locomotives are all subject to availability and can change at last minute.
