Network Rail is inviting residents in Bedford to find out more about the next stage of work to upgrade Bromham Road bridge.
Starting on Monday, 27 January, Network Rail engineers will be on site overnight during the week to carry out work to the embankment, as well as to reinstate utilities back into the bridge.
This stage of the project will take six weeks to complete. This overnight work is in addition to the current day time work which is taking place. Bedford residents have received warning of these works.
There will also be three times when overnight weekend work is required. This will take place on the following dates and times:
- 23:00 Saturday, 1 February to 23:00 Sunday, 2 February
- 00:00 Saturday, 15 February to 04:00 Monday, 16 February
- 00:00 Saturday, 22 February to 04:00 Monday, 24 February
The work is vital to allow work on the project to progress. A huge amount of work has already taken place on the project and has seen the old bridge demolished and reconstructed at a higher height. This will enable the line between Bedford, Kettering and Corby to be electrified. Allowing new and faster trains in and out of London.
Network Rail is holding a public information event on Wednesday, 29 January for those wishing to find out more about the project. This will take place between 16:00 and 19:00 at Bedford station.
Find out how to travel to Bedford station on the Thameslink and East Midlands Railway websites.
Network Rail warns residents that the noise from the area will be loud at times but thanks them for their co-operation.
