ScotRail have announced that their Class 314 farewell tour has raised over £4000 for charity!

Over 300 people took part in the farewell tour of the Class 314 on the 18th of December, as after 40 years, the Class 314s are being replaced by new Hitachi Class 385s.

Passengers donated to MND Scotland, with commemorative pin badges, tickets and timetables available in exchange for donations to the charity.

The fundraising total was £4,192.66, which included £500 from the North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band, who donated their fee for performing on the day.

What did the officials say?

Sophie Nightingale, Community Investment Manager, said:

“It’s fantastic to have raised more than £4,000 for MND Scotland. The generosity shown by our customers is overwhelming.”

“Our fleet of Class 314s served Scotland’s Railway well for the past 40 years, and last week’s tour was a fitting send off.”

Morag McGown, MND Scotland’s Corporate Partnerships Manager, said:

“We had a great day and were honoured to be part of this special tour, and I’d like to say a huge thank you to the customers and staff who contributed to this incredible total.”

“All funds raised will go towards helping families in Scotland who are affected by Motor Neurone Disease, and help us on our journey to find a cure.”
