West Midlands Railway has announced that rail passengers in Coventry and Warwickshire will be benefitting from a more reliable train service thanks to a new timetable that will begin operation later in December.

The new timetable comes into effect from Sunday 15 December and will bring several changes to help improve the reliability of train services in the region.

A new shuttle between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International will call at all the local stations. These changes mean that stopping patterns on other services between Coventry and Birmingham New Street will change.

Passengers are being advised by the train operator to check their train times as they may be different from the 15th December 2019.

What did the officials say?

Richard Brooks, head of the customer experience for West Midlands Railway, said:

“The new timetable we introduced in May brought in new journey opportunities and allowed us to carry more passengers but it also introduced complexity which has impacted on reliability.

“The changes we are making this month will simplify the timetable. By making changes to the stopping patterns of trains between Coventry and Birmingham New Street we can reduce the risk of this route becomming congested and delaying other trains across the West Midlands.

“Allied with the additional carriages coming into service across our network, passengers across the West Midlands should start to enjoy a more reliable service, with more improvements to follow next year.”
