Landslip work means no trains between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells this Sunday

Network Rail has announced that buses will replace trains between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells all day on Sunday, December 15, after a small landslip occurred.

Engineers will be working to protect the railway from the slip, which happened today just outside Somerhill Tunnel, between Tonbridge and High Brooms.

Trains are currently running with a speed restriction and a permanent watch person and the protective work will allow both to be removed.

Engineers will return at a later date to fix the slip completely.

Passenger impact:

  • Saturday night’s last train from London Charing Cross to Tunbridge Wells at 0015 Sunday will be replaced by a bus after Tonbridge.
  • Buses will replace trains from Tonbridge to Tunbridge Wells in both directions all day Sunday, December 15. Trains will continue to run between London and Tonbridge and Hastings and Tunbridge Wells.
  • Train services will resume as normal on Monday morning.
  • Journey planners will be updated overnight on Friday and will show the amended timetable from Saturday morning.

‘s route director for Kent, Fiona Taylor, said:

“I know many people are planning to take the train to London on Sunday and I’m sorry we are having to take this step. However, we have to put passengers’ safety first and this work will is essential to do that. Thank you for your patience.”
