The Great Central Railway has announced that LMS Black 5 No. 45305 is set to return to steam at their upcoming Last Hurrah gala.

The Black 5 has been in the workshop recently undergoing various pieces of work, which includes work on the boiler, a new brick arch and a new smokebox door.

The Last Hurrah is the last gala of the season for the Great Central, and marks the end of the running season for the heritage railway.

5305 is currently expected to run on the 09:10, 10:50, 14:50 and the 12:40 freight on the Saturday of the gala.
