LMS Black 5 No. 45212 has safely arrived at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway after a run down the mainline yesterday.
The Black 5 has been hauling The Jacobite services in the Highlands in Scotland this year for West Coast Railways.
However, it has now come back to its “home” for the Winter.
45212 made the journey south with fellow Black 5, No. 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier, from Fort William to Carnforth.
The Black 5 then made the short hop from Carnforth to Keighley on its own, without a support coach, which is quite rare on the mainline, via the Betham Line and Hellifield.
We have had a few videos and images sent into us, the first shows 45212 leaving Hellifield, this video and the above image are thanks to Richard Harnetty (YouTube Channel can be found here).
A second lot of videos comes from Chris King and shows the Black 5 arriving back onto home ground as it arrives and departs Keighley. His YouTube channel can be found by clicking here.
Thanks to Chris and Richard for allowing us to use their photos and videos on this article. We cant wait to see 45212 at the KWVR in the near future.

On September 13, 2024, I rode this wonderful steam locomotive from Fort William to Mallaig. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take any photos from the moving train. It was forbidden! What a pity!
